2018 | Year That Was | a message from the CEO

Thank you to all our customers, long standing and new, to our partners and employees for their support in 2018.

It was quite a year, with Spectra QEST hitting some major milestones in our 34th year of operation: We welcomed the highest number of new customers ever, more than ten, in Australia, New Zealand and North America. QESTField Forms was released, our first app for Android and iOS, and has been extremely well received with our first customers already live with this exciting new product offering.

During the year there was a lot of talk of 'technological disruption' finally coming to the construction industry; 3D printing, autonomous vehicles, IoT, drones, virtual reality, etc. Let me add some anecdotal evidence of tech adoption in our market segment and say we have never seen such high demand for technologies that help streamline process around field inspection and testing, laboratory automation and report review, approval and distribution. Our products that meet these needs QESTField Scheduler, QESTField Forms, QESTField Tests, QESTLab, QESTLab Kiosk and Construction Hive are all being adopted more and more broadly. Specifically, in regard to automation, we are seeing higher adoption rates for interfacing laboratory equipment and barcoding, reducing paperwork and creating efficiencies in the laboratory.

Perhaps, most importantly, the feedback we are getting from the market is the tremendous value our customers are getting from our solution where all these aspects (field, laboratory and office) are seamlessly delivered in a single solution, the QEST Platform, that also tightly integrates with their corporate ERP/financial systems. This has been a game-changer for some customers that were previously relying on point solutions that did not play together well.

2018 was also the year we joined the Vela Operating Group of Constellation Software (TSE:CSU). The transition has been very smooth with our leadership and core team remaining unchanged and our values proving to be enduring in the new ownership environment. In 2019 we expect to leverage the financial and operational benefits of being part of a globally leading software group which is likely to make for a very exciting year indeed.

On behalf of all the Spectra QEST team, I would like to wish you an enjoyable festive season and a successful 2019.
