QESTLab™ v3.0 released

(15 February 2008) Spectra QEST announces the release of the much anticipated QESTLab™ v3.0. After thousands of hours in design, coding and development, the most feature-packed QESTLab™ is now available to customers.

QESTLab™ is the most feature-rich laboratory management system ever created for testing construction materials and soils. Now it has become even more powerful, faster and much more flexible with features including:

Work Order Standardisation: Work orders are no longer limited to aggregates and soils testing, but are now able to manage all the different sample types.

User Tests Support: It is now possible for users to add their own basic, no-calculations tests. This feature is ideal for users who want to fully integrate new tests with the rest of the system quickly and inexpensively. User tests are available to use on QESTLab™ samples, all data are stored in the QESTLab™ database and results appear on test reports. Functionality can be extended to use electronic worksheets based on Excel that perform the required calculations.

Work Assignment and Scheduling: Field and laboratory work orders can now be assigned to technicians. Field work schedules can be managed by project or technician based on when the work needs to start and the expected duration. Work assignments and a field technician’s schedules can be printed from the system.

Support for Reference Materials: It is now possible to store reference items (associated with test methods) in QESTLab™. The most obvious use for this functionality is storing an electronic version of the Test Method (or a web link to it) with the QESTLab™ test, but it could also be useful to store an in-house procedure.

QESTonline™ Integration: Pressing <F1> while using QESTLab™ now takes you to the specific QESTonline™ help area. This simplifies finding information on the part of the system currently in use.

New Test Methods: A large range of new tests has been added, with emphasis on US and NZ test methods.

Faster User Interface: Speed improvements have been implemented—especially in the area of work orders.

Equipment Calibrations Document Storage: It is now possible to store any document with a piece of equipment, keeping together calibration data, calibration procedures or equipment user guides.

Automatic Log In: When the system detects that the current Windows user has a user name identical to a valid QESTLab™ user, it allows automatic logging in to the system.

The above is only a selection of the new QESTLab™ features; for more information on the features of QESTLab™ v3.0 please contact Spectra QEST.
